East Brunswick Flea & Tick Control
You and your family should be able to enjoy spending time in your yard without fear of fleas or ticks. If you have been driven inside by these disease-spreading pests, call on NJ Mosquito Patrol. We have served East Brunswick, Parlin, Edison, and the surrounding areas since 2015. Our technicians use high-quality products and safe and efficient treatment methods to deliver great results. We’re bringing back outdoor fun, one yard at a time.
Why Fleas & Ticks Are Dangerous
You do not want ticks crawling around your yard, as they are harmful to humans. Ticks often bite humans and pets and transmit various diseases in doing so. Some of these include Lyme disease and anaplasmosis. In severe cases, tick-borne diseases can damage kidneys and liver and even lead to respiratory problems.
Fleas can be a huge nuisance as well. These tiny insects are known for multiplying rapidly and infesting living spaces. Flea bites can transmit various diseases and parasites in both humans and animals, including cat-scratch disease and tapeworms. The dangers of ticks and fleas make it important to protect yourself and those you love from them.
New Jersey Flea Species
There are numerous species of fleas. The most common that affect humans and pets are the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis) and the dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis). Although their names make it seem like they only negatively impact cats or dogs, these flea species can bite and cause problems for humans and other mammals.
Our Control Methods
You can turn to us for various types of flea and tick control in East Brunswick, including:
Spray Treatments
We use products that effectively kill mosquitos and ticks, and are safe for use around pets and humans.
During treatment, our team will spray the areas you use most and your yard’s perimeter. Should we identify notable problem areas, we will give them extra attention.
We perform treatments every two weeks, while many others leave up to 30 days between treatments. We have seen that this frequency provides better protection and longer-lasting results.
Tick Tubes
Tick tubes are an innovative method of tick control. These small, biodegradable tubes hold cotton treated with permethrin, a tick-killing insecticide. Our team places the tubes in strategic areas where mice—the main tick-carrying animals—are likely to be.
Mice will take the cotton from the tubes to use as nesting material. In the process, they will get the insecticide on their fur. When ticks bite the mice, they will be exposed to the pesticide and die.
While using tick tubes might sound complicated, it is a proven method of disrupting the tick lifecycle and controlling their populations. It is important to note that tick tubes do not harm other pets or wildlife.
Flea Treatments
To eliminate flea populations, we generally inspect the infested area and apply eco-friendly chemical treatments that disrupt flea life cycles and eliminate them. Like our tick treatments, the products we use are safe but still able to quickly reduce flea populations.

Common Types of Ticks in New Jersey
Common New Jersey tick species include:
- Blacklegged tick: These are often called “deer ticks.” They are mostly black, but females have a red/orange stomach area. Blacklegged ticks carry Lyme disease and are prevalent in the eastern and northern parts of the US.
- Lone star tick: Female lone star ticks are brown with a white dot on their backs, while males are totally brown. This tick species does not transmit Lyme disease. However, they do transmit the Southern tick-associated rash illness (STARI).
- American dog tick: Female and male American dog ticks are brown with white marks on their bodies. They can transmit diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia, which is often called “rabbit fever.”
